Lakish Benford 

Lakisha Benford, a serial entrepreneur from Denver, CO, current business owner of Salon 117, AOL and Lady’z First a nonprofit for women and at-risk teens. Axiom Professional Cleaning and Maintenance Services and PGF Business Group which has multiple arms of services to include personal and professional development services, construction management and consulting services and private/commercial insurance. New Co- Founder of The Color of Cannabis Denver. Clients appreciate her straight talk, often unconventional perspectives, and the depth of her “real world” experience.

As a budding entrepreneur, Lakisha’s has never been a stranger to hard work and small business ownership. Her entry into business was passed down through generations from her grandfather to then her father who has been a small business owner for over 45 years in the Denver Metro Area. Lakisha worked alongside her father for years digesting all the valuable tools needed to be a successful business owner.

After attending the University of Xavier in Louisiana for Business Administration and Management Lakisha moved back to Colorado to pursue her dreams of becoming a small business owner. In 2004, Lakisha obtained her Cosmetology license and shortly after opened her first business, Salon 117 in 2007. From there she has opened and operated 7 other small businesses all in the service industry as Lakisha feels her purpose on earth is to serve.

Lakisha is distinguished by her ability to identify, leverage, and develop programs. Throughout her career, she has helped clients, peers, and subordinates recognize their unique capabilities and position themselves as key players by addressing career strategy, leadership development, professional positioning, and visibility. She has a contagious enthusiasm and passionate belief in people that inspires them to become prouder, stronger, and more valuable contributors to their organizations and communities. She has also led innovative initiatives to build inclusion and diversity in the workplace and in underserved communities. Clients appreciate her straight talk, often unconventional perspectives, and the depth of her “real world” experience.

With fierce determination and passion for growth and opportunity Lakisha, continues to learn and grow her love for business and entrepreneurship. Lakisha is currently pursuing the cannabis industry as her next line of business. She will always continue to do great work in her community serving people and creating a legacy that will last a lifetime.

Lakisha has served on the board for the American Red Cross, she currently serves on the board for the Color of Cannabis (CO- Founder), NAACP (Economic Development Chair) Five Points Neighborhood Association and Five Points Business Improvement District.
